takes the fuel pump a few seconds to renew that pressure. You can test this by letting it sit for a few hours, then noting that it takes a few seconds of cranking, as you say. Then turn it off, then start it again immediately. I'll bet it starts right up, without that delay (because there is no time for the fuel pressure to leak down). There is a fuel pressure regulator, I think near the fuel rail, that is probably bad. (Sorry I've not messed with it, so I don't know exactly where it is.)
